UTT, Worth James, 84, of Route 2, Fancy Gap, passed away Saturday, May 22,
1993, in Northern Hospital of Surry County, Mt. Airy, N.C. He was born in
Carroll County, Va., February 16, 1909, the son of Thomas Luther Utt and
Harriet Turner Utt. He was a member of the Hillsville Christian Church and
also a member of the Hillsville Masonic Lodge #193 for 63 years. He was a
devoted loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife,
Lannie Meredith Utt; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Bill Dawson of Fancy
Gap; a brother, J. Herman Utt of Hillsville; four grandchildren, Jimmy Stoots,
Meggett, S.C., Angela Beamer, Hillsville, Lea Ann McCarty, Charleston, S.C.,
Beth Dawson, Fancy Gap; four great-grandchildren, Matthew Beamer, Brittany
Beamer, James W. Stoots, and Campbell Stoots. He was preceded in death by a
daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Ronnie Stoots. Funeral services will be
Monday, May 24, 1993, at 11 a.m. in the Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel,
Hillsville, with the Rev. Charles Mackey officiating with interment to follow
in the Webb and Skyview Cemetery with Masonic rites at the graveside by the
Hillsville Masonic Lodge #193. The family says flowers would be appreciated
however, a donation may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of
Margaret Boulton, Route 4, Box 394, Hillsville, Va. 24343. The family will
receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
