LAWHORNE DRIVES TO ANOTHER WIN AT FCS

In a Franklin County Speedway race late Saturday night at Callaway, R.W. Lawhorne won his fifth consecutive 25-lap Pure Stock race. Red Hartman held on for second, and Kenny McKinney was third.

In the Any Car finale, Jimmy Floyd interrupted Dean Sutphin's string of victories with a win. Bobby Gillespie was second, and Scott Bolt was awarded third when Jerry Janney's vehicle did not pass inspection.

When the dust cleared and the damaged cars were towed off the race track, Mark Akers was the winner of the 35-lap Limited Sportsman race late Saturday at the New River Valley Speedway in Radford.

Akers took the lead for good on the third lap. The race took 45 minutes to complete, mainly because of a four-car pileup on the second lap. Charlie Miles finished second.

Salem's Jay McCray led the entire way and won the 25-lap Mini-Stock race for the second straight week. Galax's Robert Frost finished second.
