RECORD REIGN SHORT-LIVED

For Gregory Tignor of Loretto, being a state record holder was a brief affair. In early May, the 57-pound blue catfish he caught from the Rappahannock River was declared a Virginia record by the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries.

But almost before the ink had a chance to dry in the record book, along came H.G. "Hank" Rakes of Woodford with a blue cat from the Rappahannock that was 8 ounces bigger.

Rakes now is at the top of the blue catfish list in the record book, an honor Tignor held but a brief two weeks.
