2 CAVS HONORED IN SOFTBALL

Virginia's Michelle Collins and Eileen Schmidt have been selected to the National Softball Coaches Association All-South Region team, as chosen by the region's coaches.

Collins, a sophomore pitcher from Clinton, Md., was selected to the second team; she had a 23-7 record with an 0.95 ERA, 29 complete games in 29 starts, a school record of 284 strikeouts and four no-hitters.

Schmidt, a junior catcher from Barto, Pa., received special mention; the ACC player of the year had a .384 batting average with six home runs and 34 runs batted in.

The Cavaliers finished 32-12.
