DUNCAN SEEKS RE-ELECTION AS PROSECUTOR

Randal Duncan has announced he will seek re-election in November as the city's commonwealth's attorney.

Duncan, 33, is completing his first four-year term in office. Before becoming the city's prosecutor, Duncan was a lawyer at Jenkins & Quigley - now Jenkins and Jenkins - in Radford for 2 1/2 years.

One of Duncan's accomplishments as commonwealth's attorney has been vigorous prosecution of drug cases. Of more than 170 drug charges filed since 1990, Duncan said "we have obtained a conviction against every defendant."

Duncan will seek the Radford Republican party's nomination at a 7:15 p.m. mass meeting June 1 at the municipal building.

Duncan defeated incumbent John Buck in November 1989.

No one has come forward to run for commonwealth's attorney on the Democratic ticket, Ann Howard, acting treasurer of the Radford Democratic Committee, said Monday.
