ROANOKE COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

Salary survey: Voted 4-1 to adjust the pay of about half of employees whose salaries were deemed below the market average of workers performing the same tasks for area governments and businesses. The board delayed full implementation of the salary adjustments until fall because it provided only two-thirds of the $920,000 recommended in a salary survey.

Sewer rates: Raised sewer rates by 15 percent, effective July 1. Average quarterly bill will increase from $30.81 to $35.22.

Pay raise: Voted 4-1 to increase their pay from $9,522 to $9,808 - a 3 percent raise. Cave Spring District Supervisor Fuzzy Minnix dissented.

Roadside dumps: Held a work session to discuss how to force responsible parties to clean up about 60 roadside dumps and illegal landfills. - Staff report
