DAVID W. BRANCH, PHYSICIAN, DIES AT 68

Dr. David W. Branch, a retired obstetrician and gynecologist and past chief of staff at Roanoke Memorial Hospital, died Wednesday. He was 68.

Branch, who moved to Roanoke in 1956, retired in 1990 after practicing nearly 35 years.

He served on the boards of Planned Parenthood, Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Virginia (as chairman) and the Virginia State Board of Medicine.

He also was past president of the Roanoke Valley Obstetrical and Gynecological Society.

A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Roanoke on Friday at noon. Oakey's Roanoke Chapel is handling the arrangements.
