OBIT NEWCOMB, L. FRANK JR.
NEWCOMB, L. Frank Jr., 68, of Route 3, Ferrum, died Tuesday evening, May
25, 1993, at the VA Medical Center in Salem, Va. He was born February 10,
1925, in Sutherlin, Va., served with the U. S. Navy during World War I and was
a life member of AMVETS, service office for veterans rights for wives and
children. He also was instrumental in the formation of the Franklin County
Federal Credit Union and served as loan officer for both Franklin County and
Roanoke Memorial Hospital Credit Unions. He was a member of Evangelistic House
of Prayer for over twenty years, serving as song leader, and assistant Sunday
school teacher. Surviving are his wife, Eula S. Newcomb of the home; two sons,
Kenneth Newcomb of Ferrum and Sammie Newcomb of Florida; one sister, Victoria
Collie of South Boston, Va.; three brothers, Edward Newcomb of Fairfax, Va.,
Earl Newcomb of Newport News, Va., and George Newcomb of Martinsville, Va.
Also surviving are seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral
services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, May 29, 1993, from the
Evangelistic House of Prayer by the Rev. Bud Nichols, John Wagner, and Archie
Ingram with interment to follow at 2:30 p.m. in the Arbor Baptist Church
Cemetery. Visitation will begin 2 p.m. Friday at Lynch Funeral Home, Rocky
Mount, Va., where the family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m.
