OBIT ORRELL, EMMA PETERS

ORRELL, Emma Peters, 93, of 1400 Drumcliffe Rd., Winston-Salem, N.C., died at Forsyth Memorial Hospital Monday evening, May 24, 1993. Mrs. Orrell was born in Ferrum, Va., October 2, 1899 to Harvey Edward and Martha Holley Peters. She lived most of her life in Forsyth County, where she was a member of Ogburn Memorial United Methodist Church. She had retired from R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. in 1966 after 23 years and was preceded in death by her husband, Luther L. Orrell; one sister, Mrs. Effie Peters; and three brothers, Harry, Elmer and Oscar Peters. Surviving are two daughters, Ms. Mildred A. Orrell of the home, Mrs. George ("Evelene") Johnson of Winston-Salem, N.C.; one son, Luther L. Orrell Jr. and wife, Edna, of Winston-Salem, N.C.; one grandson, Dale, and wife, Lynn; one great-granddaughter, Kasey Madison; one sister, Mrs. Sarah P. Boothe of Bassett; three sisters-in-law, Mrs. Kate Peters, Mrs. Louise Peters and Mrs. Effie Lawson Peters; five half sisters, Mrs. Lera P. Lloyd of Hampton, Mrs. Edith P. Hawkins of Dunnellon, Fla., Mrs. Geneva P. Foy of Greensboro, N.C., Mrs. Clovis P. Cooper of Ridgeway, Mrs. Rhoda P. Fulcher of Collinsville; two half brothers, Grover Peters of Martinsville, Eugene Peters of Collinsville; three stepgrandchildren, Morgan Gainor, George W. Johnson, and Shannon Masters. Funeral services will be held at Volger's Reynolda Road Chapel at 2 p.m. Thursday by the Rev. Kim Williams, with burial to follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family requests that memorials be made to the Ogburn Memorial United Methodist Church.
