IRONKIDS TRIATHLON SET FOR JUNE 6

Registration is being accepted for the fourth annual Rainbo IronKids Triathlon to be held June 6 at Fallon Park.

The event, open to boys and girls ages 7-14, is sponsored by the YMCA of Roanoke Valley, Roanoke Athletic Club and Fox 21/27 TV.

Participants in the junior category (ages 7-10) will swim 100 meters, cycle five kilometers and run one kilometer. Those distances will be doubled for senior athletes (ages 11-14).

Athletes must attend an orientation June 5, and the event begins at 8 a.m. June 6. The entry fee is $10 per child if registered by Friday, and $15 thereafter. Participants must supply their own bicycles and helmets.

Entry forms may be picked up at the YMCA Central Branch, 425 Church Ave. S.W., or Family Center Branch, 108 Orange Ave. N.W., or at the Roanoke Athletic Club on Starkey Road.
