\ SEEDS FOR CROATIA, a mission project of Virginia Southern Baptists, resulted in more than 500 congregations sending 67,000 packets of seeds to war-torn areas of the Balkans where hunger is widespread this spring. The seeds were distributed by a representative of the Baptist World Alliance to church workers in areas of greatest need.
\ A VACATION CHOIR SCHOOL for children of any religious background is scheduled in two sessions at Raleigh Court United Methodist Church, 1706 Grandin Road S.W. Phyllis Wampler will be the director.
Children 3 years old through those in the first grade will attend July 6-9 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. The fee is $5.
Children in grades 2 through 6 are scheduled for Aug. 9-13 with classes from 9 a.m. to noon. An $8 fee is charged for this group.
This year's school is being sponsored by Cave Spring and South Roanoke United Methodist congregations as well the host church.

\ A PUBLIC SERVICE MEMORIAL WORSHIP, commemorating the work of police officers, firefighters, emergency care staffers and their auxiliaries, is scheduled Sunday at 11 a.m. at Villa Heights Baptist Church, 4080 Challenger Ave. This will be the 25th year the Memorial Day observance has been held.
The Rev. Harold C. Lewis, pastor, will be the speaker.
\ A MEMORIAL DAY LITURGY for the dead of any war is planned Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Andrew's Catholic Cemetery.
\ ST. JOHN'S EPISCOPAL CHURCH soon will begin work on a parking area between its garden and Mountain Avenue Southwest. The space, formerly occupied by apartment houses, will be landscaped and graded to provide better access for the elderly and handicapped.
\ GREENE MEMORIAL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH is expected to complete renovations on its pipe organ by late July. A new console and major repairs have been added over the past two years. The old parts were sold to a St. Louis congregation.
\ EMMA JEAN WOODARD will present a Memorial Day message Sunday at 11 a.m. at Oak Grove Church of the Brethren.
A graduate of Cave Spring High School, Woodard and her husband, Ed, moved to Roanoke last summer from Taneytown, Md. Ed Woodard is the pastor at Oak Grove.
\ THE CHILDREN'S CHOIR at New Hope Christian Church, 4229 Welcome Valley Road S.W., will present a cantata, "Good Kings Come In Small Packages," June 6 at 7 p.m.
The cantata is based on the Old Testament account of Josiah, a God-fearing ruler who became king while still a child.
\ SUSY HAMLIN, director of Noah's Landing Preschool at Christ Lutheran Church, has resigned because of a family move to Iowa. She will leave the staff June 30.
