U.S. SUSPENDS AID TO GUATEMALA

The United States cut off most assistance to Guatemala on Thursday because of the suspension of democracy there.

The decision suspends cash transfers to the Guatemalan government and military and police training programs. The cutoff also applies to development assistance and food aid channeled through the government.

Aid channeled through private groups, including humanitarian assistance, will continue. - Associated Press
