LIBERTY LOSES OPENER 4-1

Brad Rigby pitched a two-hitter for eight innings and Brandon Hensley's two-run double keyed a four-run sixth inning Thursday as top-seeded Georgia Tech beat Liberty 4-1 in the opening round of the NCAA Atlantic Regional.

Rigby (13-1), a sophomore, struck out 10 and walked three to tie Georgia Tech's season victory record set by Scott Erwin in 1988 and tied by Marc Pisciotta in 1991. Chris Myers got the final three outs for his second save this season.

Rich Humphrey (8-5) went the distance for Liberty.

In other games, Wichita State beat Ohio State 14-5 and South Carolina defeated East Carolina 6-5.

Today's schedule in the double-elimination tournament has Georgia Tech taking on Ohio State, Liberty meeting East Carolina and South Carolina facing Wichita State.
