RESCUE SQUAD DRIVER CONVICTED IN FATAL CRASH

A volunteer rescue squad ambulance driver who was involved in a collision that claimed two lives has been convicted of reckless driving and fined $500.

Chesterfield General District Judge Philip Daffron on Wednesday also took Robert C. Morgan's license for 90 days, sentenced him to a 90-day suspended jail term and ordered him to perform 150 hours of community service.

Morgan, 51, was driving a Bensley-Bermuda Volunteer Rescue Squad ambulance that collided with a van carrying five children. The driver of the van was killed and a 3-year-old girl who was a passenger later died.

The girl's parents have filed a $5.3 million wrongful death suit against Morgan and the squad.
