OBIT MONTGOMERY, ETHEL MAY

MONTGOMERY, Ethel May, 78, a native of Roanoke, died Wednesday, May 26, 1993, at her home. She was the daughter of the late Walter and Ethel Montgomery and is survived by her sister, Mary Louise Montgomery. In addition, she is survived by the following cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Scruggs, Chatham, Mrs. H. William Welch, Miamisburg, Ohio, Charles L. Munday, Dayton, Ohio, Mrs. Basil D. Hatcher and Mrs. Margaret G. Roberts, both of Roanoke, Mrs. Elizabeth Webster, Rocky Mount, Mrs. Gwen Dickens, Halifax, N.C., Rev. and Mrs. John E. Wallace, Vinton, Mrs. L.K. Bussey Jr., and Mrs. Carol Hardy, both of Roanoke, Mr. Arthur Naff Jr., Bonsack, Mrs. Charlotte Barns, Bluefield, Mrs. Charlotte Naff King, Salt Lake City, Utah, Mr. A.T. Montgomery and Mrs. Mildred Mills, both of Boones Mill, Mr. and Mrs. S.S. Jett, Midlothian, Mr. and Mrs. M.E. Garst, Richmond. She retired in 1978 from the Motive Power Department of Norfolk and Western Railroad. She was a member and past president of the Roanoke Chapter of the Pilot Club, a member and former treasurer of the Roanoke Chapter of the Railway Business Women's Club, and a member and past president of the RIF Club of the YWCA. A memorial service conducted by Pastor David A. Yingling assisted by Rev. J. Richard Gottshall, will be held Saturday, May 29, at 2:30 p.m. at the Central Church of the Brethren, where she was a charter member. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be made to the Cancer Society or Good Samaritan Hospice.
