OBIT NESTER, SIDNEY ALBERT

NESTER, Sidney Albert, 90, of Thaxton, passed away Thursday, May 27, 1993, in the Bedford County Memorial Hospital. He was born June 25, 1902, in Bedford County, a son of the late James Edward Nester and Mary Fogle Nester. He was a retired employee of the Virginia Department of Transportation. He is survived by his wife, Gertrude Creasey Nester; four sons, Ray Nester, Wayne Nester, both of Bedford, James Nester, Bill Nester, both of Thaxton; six daughters, Gladys Dooley, Bedford, Catherine Carter, Thaxton, Shirley Nichols, Salem, Betty Goff, Peggy Goff, both of Big Island, Nancy Carter, Montvale; one sister, Estelle Tyler, Montvale; 29 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, May 29, 1993, at 1 p.m. from the Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford. Interment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Updike Funeral Home, Bedford.
