OBIT CLARK, WALTER ERNEST

CLARK, Walter Ernest, 73, of Marion, died Thursday, May 27, 1993, at his home. He was originally from Port Ewen, New York and came to Marion in 1948. Mr. Clark was an active member of Ebenezer Lutheran Church. He served in various positions with the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 92 for 40 years and was awarded the Silver Beaver in 1974. He was a member of Marion VFW Post #4667 and was employed by Brunswick Corporation for 30 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh Clark Sr. and Emma Naack Clark and his sister, Anna Hartman. He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Helton Clark, Marion; one son, Winston D. Clark, Charlottesville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Anita and Larry Fairley, Cumberland, Md., Penny Leigh and Gary Everett, Christiansburg; four grandchildren, Jeff, Alan and Sarah Fairley, Cumberland, Md., and Emily Everett, Bristol, Va.; four brothers, Hugh Clark, George Clark, Kingston, New York, William ("Bill") Clark, Belleview, Fla., and Paul Clark, Tucson, Ariz.; three sisters, Gladys Tomshaw, Port St. Lucie, Fla., Rosa Fitzgerald, Kingston, N.Y. and Theodora Sickler, Grand Junction, Colo. Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 30, 1993, at 2 p.m. at the Ebenezer Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery in Rural Retreat, where military rites will be conducted by Marion VFW Post #4667. The body will be taken to the church one hour before the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Boy Scout Troop 92, c/o Jim Wilson, 1254 Culbert Drive, Marion, VA 24354, or to the Ebenezer Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 222 West Main Street, Marion, VA 24354 or the Ronald McDonald House, 2224 S. Jefferson Street, Roanoke, VA 24001. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
