CHRISTIANSBURG DRIVER THROWN FROM PICKUP, KILLED

A Christiansburg man died early Friday after the truck he was driving overturned in the median of U.S. 460 in Elliston.

State police said Stephen K. Hughes, 35, of Roanoke Street, was dead at the scene.

Hughes, who was employed at United Parcel Service in Roanoke, was thrown from his pickup truck after it ran off the left side of the road near Virginia 636, went into the median and overturned.

He was found about 3:15 a.m. Police said Hughes was not wearing a seat belt.
