STUDENTS SLIGHTLY HURT WHEN 3 BUSES COLLIDE

Three buses carrying middle-school students collided Friday, causing minor injuries to 47 students and two drivers, police said.

The wreck occurred about 3:45 p.m. after one of the buses stopped abruptly to avoid hitting an automobile that was stopped in the road, Lt. Robert Stapleton of Henrico County police said.

The bus never crashed into the automobile but the following two buses could not stop in time, causing a domino effect, Stapleton said.

All three buses were damaged, and two had to be towed, police said.

Thirty-five of the injured were taken to hospitals, where most were expected to be treated and released, Stapleton said. Another 14 were expected to be sent for observation, he said.

The students were from George H. Moody Middle School in Henrico County.

No charges have been filed, Stapleton said. - Associated Press
