PIPE BOMB DISCOVERED AT COUNTY OFFICIAL'S OFFICE

An apparent pipe bomb found at the office of Shenandoah County's public works director may have been a result of a fractious local government meeting last week, an official said.

Public Works Director Richard Chrisman found the device when he arrived for work Friday morning.

"The device did not detonate and no one was injured," county Fire Marshal Larry Gochenour said. "But I feel that for a person to go to this extent, they're serious. Pipe bombs are made to damage property and kill people."

The device will be sent to the state crime lab for analysis, he said. - Associated Press
