Sigmon won the 100-lap Late Model Stock Car feature of the Paper Gold 300. The win was the fourth of the season for Sigmon, the points leader, but his first since May 1.
Sigmon qualified first in the 11-car field and started on the pole, but he deferred to Ronnie Newman on the opening lap. Newman held the lead through 65 laps and several cautions, until he slipped momentarily on turn 4 and Sigmon regained the advantage.
Cautions on laps 88 and 98 gave the remainder of the field two opportunities to catch Sigmon in sprints, but the Rocky Mount driver won handily. Newman took second, and Dicky Wilson, last year's points champion, finished third.
Leon Moles, seventh on the points list, returned to the winner's circle in the Pure Stock competition, breaking R.W. Lawhorne's five-week win streak and collecting a $100 bounty.
Moles wrested the lead on lap 21 from early front-runner Red Hartman, who finished third. Lawhorne placed second.
John Hall won his first race of the season in the Mini Stock division. Hall, running third 300 yards from the finish line, sneaked in front of Tommy Dean and Steve Lynch, who collided while battling for the lead.
Wayne Corprew claimed second and Ray Bare was awarded third. Dean and Lynch, with four and two wins this year, respectively, limped home fourth and fifth.
Roanoke's Phillip VanDerVeer, whose goal is to compete in the Late Model division, won his sixth Street Stock race of the season. Freddie Goff, second in points, was again the runner-up. Lonnie Foley finished third.
Rookie points leader Gordon Wingfield posted his first victory in more than a month, outrunning Josh Ingram (second) and last week's winner Chuck Floyd (third).
