BUCCANEERS BURNED BADLY BY INDIANS 13-5

Shortstop Paul Meade went 2-for-4 with a bases-loaded triple, two runs and four RBI as the Kinston Indians trounced the Salem Buccaneers 13-5 in a Carolina League baseball game Saturday night.

Salem opened the scoring in the second inning with five runs on only two hits.

Ken Bonifay smashed a solo homer and catcher Angelo Encarnacion slapped a bases-loaded single into left field that scored one run. Two more runs scored when Kinston left fielder Tony Mitchell misplayed the ball. The final run of the inning scored on a balk by Indians pitcher Matt Williams (4-4).

Kinston held the Buccaneers scoreless and hitless for the rest of the game. The teams will complete the four-game series today. The Indians lead the series 3-0.
