SAUDI CLERIC CONDEMNS TERROR TACTICS

A leading Saudi cleric condemned the use of terrorism to spread Islam and urged unity Sunday in a sermon atop Mount Arafat, where more than 1.5 million Muslims prayed on the last day of an annual pilgrimage.

"Never ever was terrorism a facet of the call to the faith, or a means to it," said Sheik Abdul-Aziz ibn Abdullah al-Sheikh, a member of the Supreme Council of Ulemas, or religious theologians. He said enemies of the religion will take advantage of "the weak of spirit." The sermon was broadcast throughout the Muslim world.
