NEW RIVER DRIVER GETS DISQUALIFIED

Fourth-place finisher Michael Ritch was disqualified from the Late Model Stock Car race at New River Valley Speedway late Saturday night for using improper equipment.

In late races Saturday night:

Scott Brawley of Lenoir, N.C. led from start to finish in the 25-lap Modified Mini race. Points leader Dale Sutphin came in second.

Christiansburg's Tony Howell held off Jay McCray to capture the Mini Stock event. Late cautions extended the race to 29 laps. - Staff report
