OBIT-COX, FRED WILLIAM SR.

COX, Fred William Sr., 67, of 248 Hurd Lane, Pulaski, died Saturday in the Radford Community Hospital. He was born in Wythe County on December 20, 1925, and was the son of the late James Wallace Cox and Alice Sayers Cox. He was a retired employee of R.A.A.P. in Radford and he was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Navy. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joy Durmon Cox. Surviving are three sons, Fred William Cox Jr., Newport News, Va., Gary Wayne Cox, Winston-Salem, N.C., Toby Michael Cox, Pulaski; three sisters, Mabel Tuell, Pulaski, Louise Irving, Roanoke, Anna Mae Sposa, Richmond; a dear friend, Virginia Brown, Pulaski; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the Stevens Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ira Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Draper's Valley Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery, Wythe County. The family will receive friends Monday evening at Stevens Funeral Home from 7 until 9 p.m. Arrangements by Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski.
