EVEN IN THE WOMB, BABIES ARE ALIVE

REGARDING the May 20 letter to the editor by Ellis J. Carter ("Holocaust comparison is wrong"):

In answer to comments about abortion, pro-choice and "breathless therefore lifeless fetus," unborn babies are real, breathing people. They most definitely are alive and existing, and sorry to say, they are the ones with no choice at all in the decision to end their lives.

At the moment of conception, I believe a new soul is born. Gifts from God for a short while, these souls are entrusted to parents to nurture and protect, even at the beginning in the womb.

Carter must never have had someone close to him lose an unborn child. Unfortunately, I and many others have.

Please don't say that because my son Benjamin Baker never breathed outside my body, he was "therefore lifeless."
