OBIT MCGREGOR, NELLIE GUNTER
MCGREGOR, Nellie Gunter, 90, formerly of Roanoke, died Tuesday, June 1,
1993, in Martinsville Convalescent Center. She was a native of Salem and had
lived in the area most of her life. She retired from the American Visco
Corporation after 39 years of service as an inspector in the Coning
Department. She also went on to retire from the Roanoke City School Systems
where she worked as a cafeteria worker. She was also a member of the Belmount
Baptist Church in Roanoke and was a member of the Polly Anna Sunday school
class at the church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles A.
McGregor. She is survived by two sisters and brothers-in-law, Katherine and
Alvis Beard, Martinsville, Virginia and Woodrow LaPrad, Eden, N.C.; numerous
nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 3, at 1
p.m. at Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Wednesday
at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Services entrusted to John M. Oakey &
Sons, Salem Funeral Home.
