RELIGION BRIEFS

WEST SALEM BAPTIST CHURCH has selected a native of Salem, Bobby Pickle, as its next youth minister. A graduate of Salem High School, Pickle completed Criswell Institute for Biblical Studies in Dallas last year. He has been on the staffs of several Texas Baptist congregations and was ordained at West Salem in 1991.

\ JIM FOSNOT, a student at St. Mary's Theological Seminary in Baltimore, has joined the staff of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church as a summer intern. He will be with the parish until Aug. 8. He previously has worked with Catholic congregations in Wytheville and Pulaski, and is scheduled for ordination to the first order of professional ministry in several months.

\ A CHRISTIAN SCIENCE LECTURE, "Your Home in God's Arms," is scheduled June 20 at 2 p.m. at Greene Memorial United Methodist Church, 402 Second St. S.W. Roanoke's First Church of Christ, Scientist will sponsor the lecture that will be presented by Margaret M. Campbell of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship in Boston. The free lecture has a focus of prayer in solving problems of homelessness.

A preliminary study session for the lecture is planned Saturday at 1 p.m. at 1155 Overland Road S.W.
