LACROSSE - UVA PUTS 3 WOMEN ON ALL-AMERICA TEAM

Seven area players have been named to the U.S. Women's Lacrosse Association All-America teams.

The University of Virginia's Amy Breen, Cherie Greer and Erin Stewart were named to the Division I first team. Washington and Lee's Ginny Dallam and Lisa Dowling were first-team selections to the Division III squad, and W&L's Angie Carrington and Roanoke's Tracy Tahaney were honorable-mention choices.

Breen, a senior on attack, had 27 goals and 17 assists for the Cavaliers. Greer, a junior defender, contributed 24 goals and 12 assists. Stewart had 31 goals and 10 assists as an attacker in her senior season.

All three are automatically invited to the U.S. national team trials Friday through Sunday in Germantown, Pa.

Three W&L men's lacrosse players have been chosen to play in the annual North-South All-Star game. Seniors Wiemi Dougoguih, John Hunter and Dave Schiminger will participate in the game June 18 at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore.
