NEW RIVER TRAIL FRIENDS TO MEET

Friends of the New River Trail (North) will hold its regular meeting tonight at 7 in Pulaski Town Council chambers at the Municipal Building, 42 First St.

In honor of National Trail Day on Saturday, the friends will celebrate the day with a trail hike from Draper to Hiwassee. At noon, hikers will meet for a picnic lunch at the New River Trail State Park access across from Brysons Store in Draper. At 12:30 p.m., a representative of the state park will make short presentation.

The four-mile hike will begin at 1 p.m. The scenery on this portion of trail includes rolling farmland and views of the New River. An auto shuttle has been arranged for those who do not wish to hike back.

In the event of rain, the hike will be canceled. For more information, call 699-6778.
