Frank and Steve Ray are the other twins.
Jennifer will attend the University of Virginia, where she plans to major in psychology, and her brother John is Princeton bound, to study molecular biology. He plans a career in sports medicine. Both run track at Northside, and John will be on Princeton's track team.
The Stewart twins have been educated entirely in Roanoke County schools, beginning at Mountain View Elementary. Their father, Robert L. Stewart, teaches physics at Northside and had Jennifer in one of his classes, but did not have the opportunity to teach John, who attended the Governor's School. Their mother, Sandra, teaches second grade at Mason's Cove Elementary.
The financial strain of having twins in college will be eased for the Stewarts because both twins have scholarship aid or academic grants.
About 75 percent of Northside grads are college bound, including the Ray twins.
Frank will pursue a business degree, beginning at Virginia Western Community College, and Steve, a wrestler, heads for Carson-Newman on an athletic scholarship. They are sons of Ronald and Georgia Ray and started school at Mason's Cove.
Senior class adviser Robert Brill calls the class of '93 special.
"This was one of those classes every teacher dreams of, which doesn't come every year," he said. "So many students are musical. Julie Walden played in the All-Virginia Band. There are also several excellent actors."
The class showed foresight and ingenuity by raising enough money during its sophomore and junior years to pay for the prom and senior year expenses, so fund-raising during the senior year was not necessary, Brill said.
"They bought diploma covers for their members, paid for part of the class breakfast, and gave a generous gift to the school," he added.
