RELIGION BRIEFS

CORNERSTONE CHURCH, 6930 Woodhaven Road, has scheduled a Friend Day for the North Roanoke County community Sunday at 12:30 p.m. Activities will include an ice cream social and games throughout the afternoon.

\ CHRISTI DILLON, a youth leader at Melrose Baptist Church, has been commissioned for several weeks of summer home mission work in Northern Virginia. Dillon, a recent graduate of Roanoke College, is a daughter of Pat and David Dillon.

PILGRIM BAPTIST CHURCH'S WOMAN'S DAY COMMITTEE will sponsor the play, "Sprucing Up," June 13 at 6 p.m. at the church at 1415 Eighth St. N.W. The Spirits of Faith group from First Baptist Church of Elliston will make up the cast.

\ THE REV. THOMAS E. PLEASANT will be installed as the new pastor of Mount Moriah Baptist Church June 13 at 3:30 p.m. The installation sermon will be preached by the Rev. James A. Braxton of First Baptist Church in Salem. The choir of that church will provide music. Mount Moriah is at 3521 Orange Ave. N.E.

\ PASTORAL REVIVAL SERVICES will begin tonight at First Church of God in Christ on Third Street in Buchanan. The outdoor services will begin at 6:30 p.m. Elder Randall Jackson, pastor, will preach at the first service. On Friday night at 7, the Rev. Joseph Pride and a Staunton choir will lead worship. Elder Larry Manns and a choir from Roanoke will lead the 3:30 p.m. Sunday service. Services will continue at intervals throughout June.

\ A CHRISTIAN SCIENCE LECTURE, "Your Home in God's Arms," is scheduled June 20 at 2 p.m. at Greene Memorial United Methodist Church, 402 Second St. S.W. Roanoke's First Church of Christ, Scientist will sponsor the lecture that will be presented by Margaret M. Campbell of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship in Boston. The free lecture has a focus of prayer in solving problems of homelessness.

A preliminary study session for the lecture is planned Saturday at 1 p.m. at 1155 Overland Road S.W.

The deadline for religion briefs for Neighbors is Thursday. Material must be delivered to Neighbors Religion Briefs, P.O. Box 2491, Roanoke 24010, by noon in order to run in the following Thursday edition.
