Meal reimbursements offered to care givers
Home day-care providers can receive financial help through the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Child and Adult Care Food Program, administered in the Roanoke Valley by the Council of Community Services.
The program offers reimbursements for nutritious meals for children 12 years old and younger. Reimbursements are available to any home day-care provider who meets program standards.
Participants must keep monthly menus, a record of the children's attendance and the number of meals served in order to be reimbursed. Taking part in the program also makes care givers eligible for training in child development, nutrition, fire prevention, infant care and children's activities.
The program is funded by the USDA National School Lunch Act. For more information, call 985-0131.
