OBIT - ROSE, DAVID
ROSE, David, 71, of Route 1 Box 108, Waynesboro died Tuesday morning, June
1, 1993, at his home. He was born in Augusta County, July 22, 1921, a son of
the late George and Fannie Fuller Rose. He was a security guard for Dupont,
retiring in 1981 after 37 years of service. He was a lifetime member of the
Oak Grove Baptist Church, Hermitage, past chairman of the church Deacon board,
past superintendent of the Sunday School, past church treasurer, member of
NAACP, member of the original Laymans Group, member of the Masonic Mt. Zion
Lodge #18, F & AM. Surviving relatives include his wife, Mrs. Pearline Barber
Rose; four sons, David N. Jr. of Norfolk, George R. of Waynesboro, James T. of
Salem, Daniel L. of Lyndhurst; three daughters, Mrs. Mary E. Spears of
Waynesboro, Mrs. Eva M. Haston of Staunton, Mrs. Patricia A. Hurdle of Salem;
16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was the last member of his
immediate family. A funeral service will be Saturday, June 5, 2 p.m. in the
Fishersville Baptist Church conducted by Rev. E. G. Hall. Burial will be in
Oak Grove Baptist Church cemetery. The body will lie in state in the Oak Grove
Baptist Church, Friday, noon to 8 p.m. for viewing. The body will be in the
Fishersville Baptist Church at noon Saturday. Lewis Funeral Home, Waynesboro,
is in charge of arrangements.
