BOTETOURT SUPERVISOR WON'T SEEK TERM

The senior member of the Botetourt County Board of Supervisors announced this week that he will not seek a fourth term this fall.

Webster Booze Jr. has served the Buchanan electoral district since 1983 when he handily won a three-way race. He was unopposed in subsequent elections.

Booze, who was out of town and unavailable for comment Thursday, told other board members he believes it is "time for a change."

Supervisor G.C. Thompson Jr. praised Booze's decade of dedicated service. "His will be big shoes to fill."

A year ago, Booze announced that we was going to resign before the end of his term, which expires in December. Before the resignation could take effect, however, he reconsidered and maintained his seat.

Before becoming a supervisor, Booze served on the Botetourt Planning Commission and Buchanan Town Council.
