OBIT-PERDUE, UELL LESTER

PERDUE, Uell Lester, 85, of Roanoke, died Wednesday, June 2, 1993. Mr. Perdue was a prominent businessman in the Roanoke area for 33 years, who started Jamison Avenue Hardware in 1945. He was a member of Burnt Chimney United Methodist Church and the Mount Pleasant Lions Club. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Joyce P. Bowling. Mr. Perdue is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lydia S. Perdue; one daughter, Vivian and son-in-law, George Bratton, of Wirtz; son-in-law, Maurice Bowling, Roanoke; four grandsons, Michael L. and wife, Diane Simmons, Cornell and wife, Sandy Bowling, Roger Bowling, Maurice Bowling Jr.; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Chocklett, Irene Dillon; one brother, Herman Perdue, all of Roanoke; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at the Lotz Roanoke Chapel on Saturday, June 5, 1993, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Richard McDowell and Mr. Leonard Martin officiating. Interment will be in Sherwood Memorial Park. Friends may call at the Lotz Roanoke Chapel.
