ACLU LEADER SETS BAD EXAMPLE

WHEN KENT Willis, executive director of the American Civil Liberties Union, stated "There are dangers when government advocates prayer" in the May 7 news article entitled "Day of Prayer questioned," he did not realize how foolish and how far from the truth he is. What dangers was he referring to? Who did prayer ever hurt? Today's society wants nothing to do with God, but people don't realize that is the reason we have all the problems we do today. When you push God out of the picture, you just bring more trouble for yourself.

Willis also stated, "This is another example of how politicians chip away the wall between church and state." In my opinion, putting a wall up there to begin with was the worst choice the government ever made. He said Christians may have violated the Constitution by having the National Day of Prayer. No one said anything when Halloween rolled around, which is a satanic holiday.

I think Willis should concern himself with more important things, like the bad example he is setting for young people today. CRYSTAL BLANKENSHIP ELLISTON
