OBIT CARTER, GERTRUDE ELIZABETH
CARTER, Gertrude Elizabeth, 82, of Bridgewater, died June 4, 1993 at
Bridgewater Home, where she has been a resident since March 1985. She was born
June 11, 1910, in Roanoke County and was the daughter of the late Ernest E.
and Ida Lawson Deyerle. Mrs. Carter had worked at Roanoke Memorial Hospital
and was a member of the Peter's Creek Church of the Brethren in Roanoke. On
December 15, 1930, she married Robert Lee Carter, who died September 29, 1983.
She and he husband moved to Bridgewater in 1977 and had lived with their
daughter, Janet Carter Miller. Besides her daughter, surviving are a sister,
Katherine D. Hamblin of Roanoke; and two granddaughters. A graveside service
will be conducted 10 a.m. Saturday at the Cedar Lawn Memorial Park in Roanoke
by the Rev. Jim Beckwith and the Rev. Parris Bain. Kyger & Trobaugh Funeral
Home in Harrisonburg is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may
be made to the Bridgewater Home, Inc., 302 North Second St., Bridgewater, Va.
