OBIT HADEN, RUDOLPH ELLIS
HADEN, Rudolph Ellis ("Rudy"), 43, of Woolwine, died Thursday, June 3,
1993, in the Roanoke Memorial Cancer Rehabilitation Center. Born June 2, 1950,
he was the son of Wavie Lyon Haden of Woolwine, and the late Ernest Taylor
Haden. Rudy was a graduate of Woolwine High School and received a B.S. degree
in Agricultural Education, and a Master's degree in Education Administration
from Virginia Polytechic Institute and State University. He taught at Sugar
Grove School in Smyth County from 1972 to 1981; at Blacksburg and
Christiansburg High Schools from 1981 to 1988; and served as assistant
principal at Floyd County High School from 1988 to the present time. He is
survived by his mother, Wavie Lyon Haden, Woolwine; fiance, Janet Q. Manning,
Willis; daughter and son-in-law, Melanie and Doug Colley, Christiansburg;
daughter, Michelle Haden, Christiansburg; son, Mark Haden, Christiansburg;
brother, Roger Haden, Woolwine; sister, Regena H. Handy, Woolwine; three
nieces and two nephews. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Jacks Creek
Primitive Baptist Church at Woolwine with Elder Oscar A. Harris and Rev. John
LeMasters officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family
will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Maberry Funeral Home,
Floyd, and other times at the home of his mother in Woolwine. In lieu of
flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the American Cancer
Society.
