HUMANE SOCIETY BREAK-IN A SHAME

A sad thing happened in Christiansburg last week: The Montgomery County Humane Society shelter was robbed.

Unfortunately, this was the second break-in within a few weeks.

In the first robbery, all our adoption fee money was taken. This time all our dog food was stolen.

What kind of people steal food from homeless animals?

Ironically, on the evening of the latest break-in, four people stood at a fund-raiser for three hours to make $70. This will not begin to cover the damage done to our shelter.

This is indeed discouraging for the few regular volunteers who keep the shelter operating.

It's been very difficult obtaining community involvement, but now would be an excellent time to give your support with either time or money.

The animals need your help. We are a no-kill shelter and receive no government funds, so your support is critical.\ Ron and\ Kathy Brown Christiansburg
