OBIT KING, CHRISTINE HODGES ALTIS
KING, Christine Hodges Altis, 87, of Roanoke, passed away Friday, June 4,
1993. She was a member of Haran Baptist Church and a member of AARP. She was
formerly employed at American Viscose and retired from the VA Medical Center.
Mrs. King was preceded in death by her husbands, Curtis D. Altis and Burgess
King; and a son, Charles D. Altis; a grandson, Charles D. Altis Jr. Surviving
are two daughters, Jeannine Jones and JoAnn Marsh, both of Roanoke; two sons,
Ronney Altis, Roanoke, Wayne ("Pete") Altis, Oklahoma; three brothers, Forrest
Hodges, Stewartsville, Curtis Hodges, Roanoke, Cleatus Hodges, Daleville; four
sisters, Mildred Shelly and Ada Dobie, both of Roanoke, Mary Wolford, North
Carolina, Gertrude Ridgeway, Roanoke; also surviving are sixteen
grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted from Lotz Roanoke Chapel noon Tuesday, June
8, 1993, with the Rev. Sam Shackleford and the Rev. Dan Stanley officiating.
Interment in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at Lotz Roanoke
Chapel after 12 noon Sunday and all day Monday.
