OBIT HARRIS, WILLIAM PARSON

HARRIS, William Parson, 84, of Route 2, Vinton, passed away Friday, June 4, 1993, at Berkshire Health Care Center in Vinton. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Nora Belcher Harris; a son, Joseph William Harris Sr.; two brothers, Johnsie and Harry Harris. Surviving are his wife, Maude Richardson Harris; one son and daughter-in-law, Malcolm ("Mac") and Margaret Harris, Patrick Springs, Va.; daughter, Dixie Lee Whitlock, Hillsville and husband, Ray Whitlock, Floyd; stepdaughter and husband, Shirley and David Oliver, Moneta; four brothers, Luther Guy Harris, Lawrenceville, Alvin ("Mutt") Harris, Lester ("Buck") Harris, both of Eden, N.C., John ("Doc") Harris, Venice, Fla.; two sisters, Nellie May Matherly, Burlington, N.C., Celestine Sawyers, Eden, N.C.; ten grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one stepgreat-grandson. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, June 7, 1993, at the Topeca Cemetery in Floyd County. The Rev. Roy Turpin will officiate. Friends may call at Lotz Vinton Chapel.
