Contract negotiations between the Houston Astros and Ferrum College left hander Billy Wagner broke off Sunday with nothing settled and no further discussions planned for early this week.

"They [Astros scouts] have left and we don't expect to talk to them again until late in the week," said Jack Lamie, Wagner's uncle.

Wagner was Houston's first pick in last week's amateur draft and the 12th player chosen overall.
