OBIT BOYDEN, MARTHA SEEBERT

BOYDEN, Martha Seebert, 88, of Lexington, died Sunday, June 6, 1993, in Heritage Hall Nursing Home, Lexington. Mrs. Boyden was born November 21, 1904, at the family home on Whistle Creek, a daughter of the late C.T. Seebert and Martha Strain Seebert. The youngest of five children, she graduated from Lexington High School in 1923 and from Harrisonburg State Teachers College in 1928. She married William H. Boyden December 3, 1930, and for many years taught school in Rockbridge County. Mrs. Boyden then became a dietician for hospitals in Norfolk, Va., New York City, Hanover, Penn., and Hanaman Hospital in Philidelphia, Penn., until the death of her husband, Mr. Boyden in 1943. She then returned to Rockbridge County and helped care for her father, C.T. Seebert until his death. Mrs. Boyden was a member of the New Monmouth Presbyterian Church and also past president of the Women of New Monmouth Presbyterian Church. Surviving are one daughter, Martha B. Williams, Fairfield, Va.; one sister, Margaret S. Seebert, Lexington, Va.; two grandchildren, Charles D. Williams Jr., Fairfield, Va., John B. Williams, Fairfield, Va.; one niece, Alice S. Godwin, Bluefield, W. Va. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 8, 1993, from the graveside at New Monmouth Presbyterian Church Cemetery with the Rev. H. Wray Sherman III officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Harrison Funeral Home, Lexington.
