GIRLS' SOCCER 1993 ALL-TIMESLAND TEAM AMY BEIGHTOL: Cave Spring sophomore center-forward. Scored 10 goals and had eight assists. Has very good speed and is a select player. MEREDITH BOWDEN: Patrick Henry junior midfielder. A repeat selection who played forward last year. Was backup keeper who played four games. Had speed down the wing and crossing the ball to the middle. SCHERRIE DALTON: Martinsville senior keeper. Timesland player of the year. Another repeat performer. Broke a hand early in the season and played in the field several games. One of the best keepers in the Roanoke area and proved so by making 57 saves. Has a scholarship to Catawba College. APHRODITE HAIRSTON: Laurel Park junior back. The only girl who played on a boys' team to make the All-Timesland team. A strong player with good speed to make a boys' team. Made the select team last year but ended up not playing. CHANDA INGRAM: Cave Spring junior midfielder. Switched from forward to midfield after making All-Timesland a year ago. Had 16 goals and three assists as the leading scorer for the Roanoke Valley District championship team. Played on the Olympic Development team. BETH KIRBY: Martinsville sophomore wing. Another repeat All-Timesland performer. Scored 11 goals and had seven assists. Has speed and an accurate shot. LEIGHTON KIRBY: Martinsville junior midfielder. All-Timesland a year ago. Beth Kirby's older sister. Had seven goals and 15 assists. BRANDY MARKELL: North Cross senior stopper and keeper. For three years, has been either first team (1992) or second team (1991). Earned a scholarship to Carson-Newman. A control factor for North Cross' young team. CARRIE MOORE: Patrick Henry freshman midfielder. The Patriots' leading scorer. Also plays on an Olympic Development team. Strong on ball control and should be highly recruited in three years. HEATHER MOORE: Salem junior midfielder. Scored six goals and had two assists. Salem's most dominating player. All-around athlete. One of the mainstays on the Spartans' basketball team. SARAH WILKE: Cave Spring senior sweeper. Another repeat performer on All-Timesland team. Had dual enrollment at Roanoke College, where she's a student. Scored two goals and was strong on defense for the Roanoke Valley District champions. GAYLYN MOORE: North Cross, Timesland Coach of the Year. Had a young team that improved greatly from the beginning of the year. Lost to Cave Spring and Martinsville in close games. Second team: Alison Beightol, Cave Spring sophomore stopper; Leanne Cline, Salem senior keeper; Emily Cook, North Cross sophomore midfielder; Karen Egers, Salem junior forward; Tiffany Jackson, Cave Spring freshman forward; Erin McCulley, Patrick Henry junior sweeper; Mary Douglas Meloy, Salem senior sweeper; Sarah Miller, Patrick Henry sophomore fullback; Stephanie Scanlin, Cave Spring senior forward; Melissa Thomas, Patrick Henry senior sweeper; Ayisha Whitenack, Patrick Henry sophomore stopper.
