PREPS GLENVAR WINS REGION C BASEBALL TITLE

Rob Robinson drove in the winning run with two outs in the sixth inning Monday as Glenvar won the Region C baseball championship 8-7 over Castlewood at Lebanon.

Jason Anderson was the winning pitcher, running his record to 9-1. He went the final three innings, struck out six and did not allow a hit. The Highlanders (14-4-1) play host to Honaker later this week in a first-round Group A state tournament game while Castlewood travels to Powell Valley on Friday in another first-round contest.

Glenvar trailed 7-4 entering the bottom of the fourth inning, but Eric East's two-run homer keyed a three-run rally that tied the score.

David Henderson had two hits and drove in three runs, Anderson and Robinson had two hits each, and Joey Hutton and Tim Carroll contributed doubles for Glenvar. Hutton scored the winning run.

Starter Trevor Willis went three innings, giving up three runs. Jacob Weddle pitched the fourth inning and surrendered a grand slam to Bo Phillips before Anderson came on and shut down Castlewood the rest of the way. Castlewood 0214000-764 Glenvar 202301x-8104
