OBIT GORDON, ARTHUR VERDELL SR.

GORDON, Arthur Verdell Sr., 84 of Wytheville, died Sunday, June 6, l993 in the Wythe Co. Community Hospital. He was born in Bland County, June 20, l908, the son of the late Arthur and Lavie Harmon Gordon. He was a retired mechanic. He is survived by four children, Arthur V. Gordon Jr. of Chesapeake, Donald Gordon of Arlington, Texas, Wilma G. Hodge of Oxon Hill, Md., Corinia G. Brooks of Washington, D.C., one son-in-law, two daughters-in-law, 12 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Gladys P. Gordon; a devoted friend, Shirley B. Jenkins; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June l0, 2 p.m. at the Barnett Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in the West End Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a celebration of life at the Barnett Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Barnett Funeral Home in Wytheville is in charge of the arrangements.
