RUSH-SHULER DELEGATE RACE INEXPENSIVE SO FAR

The race to fill the seat of retiring Del. Joan Munford, D-Blacksburg, in the Virginia House of Delegates is being run on the cheap, at least for the present.

Nick Rush of Christiansburg, the Republican candidate for the 12th District seat, had raised $1,302 in contributions as of May 28 and spent $233.50.

Rush's biggest contributor was Pat Cupp, the Blacksburg businessman whom he defeated for the Republican nomination.

Democratic candidate Jim Shuler of Blacksburg showed contributions of $450 through the reporting period and expenses of $360.33.

Shuler had no contributors who had given more than $100, but he also has loaned $2,000 of his own money to his campaign.
