LEMONS NAMED CLINCH PERMANENT CHANCELLOR

Jay Lemons, who has been interim chancellor at Clinch Valley College since mid-1992, has become the permanent chancellor.

The appointment was made public last weekend. Lemmons, 33, has served in an interim capacity since the departure of Jimmy Knight for a staff position at the University of Virginia, Clinch Valley's parent institution.

About 180 people applied for the chancellorship, and a search committee narrowed them down to three men and two women. Lemmons was the committee's unanimous choice, which was confirmed by the UVa Board of Visitors.
