BURNED BOY STILL CRITICAL

Jon Blankenship, the 13-year-old boy who was severly burned last month in an accident in Salem, remained in critical condition Friday night, a University of Virginia hospital administrator said.

Blankenship has been at the Charlottesville burn center since gasoline fumes caught fire as he was playing with another boy and two girls near train tracks that run between Bonnieville Motor Court and Lakeside Plaza.

Blankenship was badly burned on the upper half of his body.

Another boy, Scott Meredith, 13, was burned on the arms and legs and was treated at Lewis-Gale Hospital.
